Serving in Missionary Aviation:
-
Those that serve in missionary work face risks that many of us can only imagine.
However, despite all the difficulties in transportation, supply shortages, and lack of emergency support; the missionaries weigh the risks and choose to serve anyway.
How can we support these missionaries who lay it all on the line? We can help minimize the risks that they take by utilizing aviation.
Through aviation, we seek to provide:
Faster & safer transportation
Supply drops
mail, basic resources, medical supplies, etc.
Emergency flights
Medical
Evacuation
Natural disasters, civil unrest, etc.
Aiding Missionaries in their ministry as needed

I grew up in a Christian household and accepted Christ into my life at an early age. I received the call to serve in missions work abroad when I was 7. I had Godly mentors through the Churches we had attended and in Royal Rangers (a camping ministry for boys). They encouraged me to seek God’s will in my life and to pursue it.
During my mid-teen years, I became interested in aviation and learned that I could fly as a way of serving in missions work.
God opened doors to serve abroad on short term missions trips in South & SE Asia which only reinforced the call to serve overseas.

I have been an Aircraft mechanic (Airframe & Powerplant) with Compass Aviation for 7 years. A maintenance graduate from School of Missionary Aviation Technology (SMAT).
I am a Private Pilot and quickly approaching my Check-ride for my Instrument Rating. After my Instrument I will continue on to get my Commercial rating (required to serve with an organization in the missions capacity).
I currently have over 300 hours of flight time.

During the years of preparation for service overseas, I have the opportunity to serve as part of the Compass Aviation team.
Compass Aviation (COMPASS AVIATION - Home) is a non-profit that trains future missionary pilots & mechanics for missionary service.
As part of Compass Aviation, I get to come alongside other aircraft mechanics/apprentices and help them along in their journey to the mission field.
I spend my work weeks between aviation maintenance and flight training.
Outside of aviation, music ministry is another way that I serve. I enjoy worshiping with other believers, within my Church and supporting Churches (when I can). You can find some of my music on YouTube at Every Tribe Studios (or visit the Music Ministry Tab in this website menu).

I am currently looking to serve with an organization called Missionary Aviation Fellowship (Home - Mission Aviation Fellowship) whose vision is “To see isolated people changed by the love of Christ.”
It is a long road from no training to field-ready for the mission field. I am several years into it, and there is still a way to go. I have accrued a lot of experience over the years in order to meet the requirements to join a missionary aviation organization. Beyond the technical aspects of flying and maintenance, other requirements include biblical studies and building a monthly support team that will provide the financial and spiritual backing (through prayerful intercession) for my service overseas.
Once I’ve completed their requirements, I will be evaluated as part of the onboarding process.
